In post-apocalyptic America, Haven, an 18-year-old girl from Lofton, trains beasts that everyone else fears. Chimeras–a terrifying conglomeration of various creatures–are the result of the nuclear meltdown that ended modern civilization. 

If a drop of a chimera’s blood gets on a human, it will slowly eat away at the flesh until the unlucky person dies. There is no cure for chimera’s blood… yet.

When Haven's brother is kidnapped, she embarks on a journey with her trained chimera to find him. But first she must kidnap Ashton, a young traveling hematologist.

When they reach their destination, they discover a terrible secret. If left untold, it would unleash a war for which the world is not ready.
